Deborah Bruce

Deborah was born in Walla Walla and grew up in Tri Cities and the West Side of the state near Seattle.   She moved from the Tri Cities to Walla Walla in 1990 to marry her husband Jeff.  Having lived in Washington all of her life she is amazed and inspired by what a beautiful place the Pacific Northwest is and the ever changing colors and beauty that each season brings to its ocean beaches, mountains, rivers, and waterfalls.  She was employed for 30 years as a florist and flowers are one of her favorite subjects to paint.  Recently she has done several commissions for portraits of dogs and loves capturing their wonderful personalities, being a dog lover herself.

Deborah has been painting since high school and has worked in oil and acrylics but when she took a watercolor class about 20 years ago, she was hooked and has worked in watercolor since.  She has studied art at Eastern Washington University, Columbia Basin College, Walla Walla Community College and attended workshops with Eric Weigardt, Birgit O’Conner,  Tom Lynch, and Lein Quan Zhen

Deborah endeavors to express in her paintings the joy and delight she finds in what she sees in the amazing creation all around us and considers it a privilege to be able to share her art with others.  Her passion is to give honor to The Creator of all things and her Lord Jesus Christ for allowing her this joy.
